Question on tiling
Question
I’m a homeowner, not tiling professional but wondered if anyone on the forum might be able to help with a tiling problem.
We had our bathroom refurbished by a bathroom company, including full tiling on walls and floor three months ago. Unfortunately cracking in the floor grout has appeared already. The cracking is more or less in a line and extends across most of the width of our small bathroom. As it is in a line it looks like some movement is occurring along that line. We wondered if a less painful solution than ripping up the floor and starting again could be found. Hence, I wondered if members on the forum knew if there was any suitable flexible additive that can be mixed with epoxy grout to give it more flexibility so that we could regrout where the crack has formed? The flooring consists of mosaic tiles which have been grouted with a coloured epoxy grout (the brand name for the grout is Bisazza who also make the mosaics). We’ve spoken to the manufacturer, although I don’t think I got to speak to anyone with much technical knowledge. They thought there was some flexibility in the grout anyway but couldn’t suggest anything extra to add to make it more flexible. Does anyone know of anything that might suit? Unfortunately we have to stick with the same grout or the colour won’t match so its just a case of trying to find an additive.
Answer
Do you know what adhesive they used? and was it tilled to floor boards or ply? Epoxy is the most flexible gout you can get.
